Accessibility statement

Accessibility

Everyone should be able to shop our coffee, manage a subscription and find their way to the coffee bar, whatever device or assistive technology they use. This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.

Need help or found a problem?

If any part of this site is hard to use, tell us and we will help you finish what you came to do. We can help by phone or email, change your subscription for you, or help you choose beans in person at the coffee bar.

Please tell us the page you were on and what happened. We reply within 2 business days, and fix problems we can confirm as soon as we can.

What we have done

  • Keyboard: every link, button, form and menu works with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus outline. A "Skip to main content" link is the first thing on every page.
  • Screen readers: pages use real headings, landmarks and labels. Every photo has a written description, and decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
  • Color and contrast: text meets at least 4.5 to 1 contrast against its background, and form field borders and controls meet 3 to 1. Color is never the only way information is shown.
  • Zoom and text size: pages reflow without sideways scrolling down to 320 pixels wide, and work when zoomed to 200 percent or with larger text settings.
  • Phones and tablets: the menu becomes a Menu button on small screens, and buttons are large enough to tap easily.
  • Forms and checkout: every field has a visible label, errors explain what to fix, and changes are announced to screen readers. Card details are entered in Stripe's secure card field.
  • Subscriptions: you can skip, pause, change or cancel online without calling anyone, and every change is confirmed on screen and by email.
  • Motion: animations are small, and they turn off if your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Sign-in: there are no passwords to remember. We email you a one-time sign-in link instead.

How we test

Before changes go live we check every page with automated accessibility testing at phone and desktop sizes, and by keyboard. We review the whole site at least once a year and whenever we add a new feature.

Known limitations

  • Map: the map on our Contact page comes from Google Maps and is not fully accessible. Our address and a "Get directions" link are always shown beside it as text.
  • Instagram photos: photos on our Gallery page come from our Instagram posts, and their descriptions use the post captions, which may not fully describe the picture. Ask us and we will describe any photo for you.
  • Other sites we link to: some links go to Instagram, Facebook and The Coffee Trust. We do not control how accessible those sites are. Call or email us and we'll help.
